Studies indicate that the average parent loses 8 days of work every year because of childcare problems. Those providing elder care regularly report missing work as well. Unfortunately, these lost days often can add up to lost productivity. Dependent care programs have been linked to decreased absences, lower turnover, increased employee loyalty, greater morale, stronger recruitment, and an enhanced public image, all of which leads to an improved bottom line.

Assess employees' needs for childcare, eldercare, and care for ill family members. Develop an action plan to best meet employees' needs. Support access to childcare either by providing childcare services or by providing information and resources regarding childcare services.
